Harvest Moon Local Food Festival

Ionia helps to organize the annual Harvest Moon Local Food Festival, the most joyous festival of the year. In 2021, Harvest Moon will be held in September at Soldotna Creek Park on the Kenai Peninsula. The festival promotes Alaska’s wonderful food products, including vegetables, fruits and fish as well as salsas, barley products, baby foods, vinegars, herbs, krauts, pickles, relishes, cookies, chocolates, salts, sea vegetables, tortillas, and breads made and produced in Alaska, by Alaskans, using many ingredients sourced in Alaska. Food trucks will feature Alaska-grown ingredients in fish tacos, Indian curries, Italian dishes and other delicious recipes (in other words, REAL food!) We will have a local ingredient pie contest; cooking demos and educational booths; large children’s tent; fermentation station; and, of course, some rocking family-friendly local musicians.

Come and join us this year! Food sovereignty is a right for all peoples, and food security is a serious responsibility for Alaskans. We’ve seen that increasing the consumption of local foods touches everyone in many positive ways.
